This deserves to be a complete game. It felt so polished and well designed. It deserves its first place in the game Jam.
I can't remember where I heard about this, but I'm so glad I did. What a fantastic game. I feel it changed me in some way. Great, inspirational work. A real joy to play and to think about. Thanks for making it.
Gorgeous use of graphics and sound design. This felt very polished and complete. The sound that the little bird makes as it's walking is adorable too. Excellent all round! :)
Everything about this is just perfect. The gameplay is simple but fun. The art is simple too but sooo atmospheric. The animations are fluid. There are stressful dark areas with danger everywhere symbolized with red and nice, bright sections where you can have a little break.
The music is wonderful, it matches the setting of the levels just right.
But the best part is the polish. The sound design is really good, there are juicy pops whenever you jump, and terrifying screeches when the monsters chase after you. Particles are everywhere and they make the game so much more interesting to look at.
It's unfortunately very short, since it is a jam game.
A few parts of the level with the monsters weren't very good, since you sometimes had to wait a long time for them to move away.
Really amazing work. Made me look all your other work here. Your games needs to be in a store, your ideas are great. Hope see more of your work soon :D
OMG this was too great. Everything was balanced, sounds, art, gameplay. Everything. I was about to point out remapping but someone already did that so...
Thanks for this game, this inspired me to continue game development.
thank you for the experience.
Awesome! One moment I'm scared to death then another I'm happy!
Amazing, has potential to be a really great game, you should definitely keep working on it!
A wonderful minimalistic game! Ultra smooth controls and animations along with well implemented sound design. Well done! :D
I'd love to see a compelling story fleshed out for this one - has real potential!
Really great game!!! One thing that would be nice is to map the W key also to the jump. Is handy for one-handed people ;)
Thanks for playing! I've never understood how to make remappable controls in Unity, I'd try to at least have alternative controls so people can use the one that's most comfortable.
One of my goals for this game jam was to learn Unity's new input system as it's supposed to be better for remapping controls. However, I had so much trouble just getting the basic input working, I didn't want to change anything in case I broke it again. So, while this game is horribly rigid in it's controls, it's a small step in learning how to make my games more accessible.
I'm currently working on a full version of A Most Ghostly Game that has an option to play with just a mouse, the game jam version is limited when it comes to accessibility but still can be played with one hand.
well that was cool
Can we get this soundtrack on spotify pleaaase
I came here because of the blackthornprod video of the game jam. It is an amazing game! You should do a full game out of this one, it could totally be a success.
wow! this is amazing! I love it
That was really good
This game must get a full release with more story and levels, it's really great and everything is well done.
Okay yeah, this game should get a full release. still can't believe this was made in one week. wow
Wow. This was made in a week?!? I am speechless. There is so many beautiful little details and the movement is so pleasant. It is truly a masterpiece.
Saw your game on the Youtube video published today, it looks amazing!
You. Inspire. Me.
Me. Want. To. Play. More.
This is one of the honestly best games I've seen in a while. Well done.
God Sake Man, You Deserve The First Place!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations, I Love your game, Its Just Amazing
How the hell was this made in one week? Simply amazing, I BEG YOU to make a bigger game out of this, i would definetly pay money for it, no questions asked.
YEAHH!! MAKE A FULL GAME!! This game is so good, gives me those Celeste vibes both in terms of gameplay and defenetly how the game makes players feel while playing. The atmosphere is sooo nice. I wish the music bits were bit longer, but this only gave to the feeling of lonelyness and powerlessness of this bird. This MASTERPIECE deserves a full game! I'd pay for this thing no matter what!
Really great experience, I loved it. Made me feel Gris vibes. I liked the jumping mechanic and the visuals look really neat. I would love to see a full game experience on that vibe.
Dude , i have nothing to say .. you are born to be creative !!
That's incredible beautiful, congratulations man!
I am speechless.. This is a masterpiece, so inspirational!
It doesn't matter how many YouTube videos someone makes or how much someone hypes his own shit... Once a guy comes along with talent and creativity you are just beat! Awesome job bro and well deserved... Find below my "shitty" YouTube video including my post mortem and your games playthrough review! haha22:00 Black Bird
Congratulations!!! Hands down this game deserve it!!!
this game page doesn't explain the game, trust me.
This is absolutely stunning. If someone told me this game was on steam developed by some studio, I'd believe them without a doubt. The polish is incredible, and at first I didn't see the theme, but it was hiding in plain sight. Absolutely deserved first place, congrats!
Congratulations on winning the game jam!! You are an excellent dev and I love your other games too, great job with this one
Makes for Mobile too bro, I found the game really cool.
That game is amazing!
serious guy, i just don't give money for this game because i don't have money.
but other than that this game is the eighth wonder of the world.
I have already played the game 2 times since I saw your submission on the jam page. This is one of the most simple yet so mesmerizing game in the whole game jam. Truly fascinating! Inspired me A LOT!
I have one question. The character's cloak feels like 3d sometimes because of the red gem on it and the way they move and cover each other. I saw you replied to Zoppazop's comment saying that it was done procedurally using code. If so, can you please explain how did you achieve it? Or any other resource explaining that would be equally helpful. Thanks!
The 3d effect of the cloak was almost completely accidental (at least I didn't think it would work so well). I tried using Unity's sprite skin package for the first time and set up three bones on the cloak all anchored at the top. I lerp the rotation of two bones at the side to the players x velocity plus a sine wave that matches the players steps. I think the way sprite skin warps the image plus the simplicity of the sprite plays a big part in the 3D illusion. I might make a thread on twitter about it at some point
